R&D Technician

Peacock Technology is looking for an R&D Technician to join our research and development team.
At Peacock Technology we are connecting our experience in robotics and artificial intelligence to deliver ongoing solutions to help food producers improve long term food sustainability and animal welfare. We provide a range of products using robotics, machine vision and sensing technologies to monitor cow condition and provide farmer insights for disease prevention and welfare. Our development team includes highly qualified engineers, including engineers with PhDs in Software Engineering, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. We also have close working relationships with universities, colleges, and research organisations. We have an opportunity for an R&D Technician to join our development team and help guide our efforts to ensure that we are providing meaningful solutions to the dairy farmers.
As part of our commitment to advancing technological solutions, we are seeking a skilled Cloud Technician to be responsible for our development laboratory and work with the R&D development teams.
Job Description
You will be working on collaborative development projects in a quality-controlled engineering environment. You will be assisting on a wide range of projects and will have the opportunity to get hands on experience of a variety of Electrical and Mechanical systems. The work will be varied, one day it might involve assembly of sensitive components in a laboratory and the next may involve installation of equipment outside on a farm, or customer site
We are looking for someone who has a passion for engineering, who has a professional approach to projects and teamwork.
Responsibilities
Cabinet/panel building and wiring
Building prototype PCB assemblies
Building prototype mechanical assemblies
Prototype product assembly and test
Onsite commissioning and testing
Workshop organisation and management
Requirements
Enthusiastic, organised, and reliable self-starter who can use their own initiative to get around obstacles
Ability to work in a team and take on responsibility for your project tasks
Ability to work in a multi-project environment
Previous experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
A problem-solving attitude
Experience using power and hand tools
Computer literate: able to create or modify documents and manuals
Passport and driving license. Willingness to travel occasionally
Desirable Skills
HNC or HND in an engineering related discipline
Previous experience building or repairing complex printed circuit boards
Experience with Mechanical or Electronic CAD
