Senior Automation Engineer

Peacock Technology is looking for a Senior Automation/Robotics Engineer to join our research and development team.

At Peacock Technology we are connecting our experience in robotics and artificial intelligence to deliver ongoing solutions to help food producers improve long term food sustainability and animal welfare. We provide a range of products using robotics, machine vision and sensing technologies to monitor cow condition and provide farmer insights for disease prevention and welfare. Our development team includes highly qualified engineers, including engineers with PhDs in Software Engineering, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. We also have close working relationships with universities, colleges, and research organisations.

As part of our commitment to advancing technological solutions, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation/Robotics Engineer to take responsibility for our robots products and new developments.

Job Description

The role will involve participation at all stages of the development process, from requirements capture through development, to onsite commissioning and testing. You will take ownership of the robotic and automation projects.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for engineering, who has a professional approach to projects and who can find solutions to unusual automation challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Automation & Robotic Design Projects

  • Design and test control systems: PLC, Scada, Robotics

  • Produce specifications, plans and cost analysis

  • Produce appropriate documentation for proposals and customer document packs

  • Actively develop the skills of other team members

  • Liaise with customers and suppliers throughout the project cycle 

Requirements

  • A higher education qualification in a relevant field and more than 3 years’ experience in a related role in industry

  • Willingness to visit farms to develop dairy robot solutions

  • Expertise programming PLCs to an advanced level, producing high quality, well formatted programs

  • A high level of technical knowledge and the ability to apply this to practical problems

  • An understanding in electrical principles and DC circuits

  • Experience of producing high quality, well formatted programs. Our projects can be based on a variety of PLC platforms requiring strong ladder and structured text programming skills

  • Hands on experience of assembly and test of automated solutions

  • Passport and driving license. Willingness to travel occasionally 

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Kuka robotic systems.

  • Experience with Beckhoff and/or Omron PLCs.

  • Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
